Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (plain or Italian-seasoned)
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Form patties from the meat mixture and cook in the skillet for about 4 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through (internal temperature of 160°F).
  3. Remove patties and set aside. In the same skillet, melt remaining butter and whisk in flour until golden brown.
  4. Gradually add beef broth while whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Return the patties to the skillet and let them simmer in the gravy for about 3–5 minutes.
  6. Serve hot with your favorite sides.
