  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz can fire-roasted crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, boil salted water. Add penne pasta and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Reserve ½ cup pasta water, then drain.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Sauté chopped onions and minced garlic for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet, cooking until browned with no pink remaining.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes to meld flavors.
  5. Mix in cooked pasta with sauce. Gradually add reserved pasta water for desired consistency.
  6. Plate hot pasta topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
