  • 4 medium Granny Smith apples (or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (diced)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Core and slice the apples into wedges. Toss with sugar and cinnamon; let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into squares large enough to wrap around each apple wedge.
  4. Place an apple wedge in the center of each square and fold the corners over to seal tightly.
  5. Arrange dumplings on a parchment-lined baking sheet, dot with butter, sprinkle with any remaining cinnamon-sugar, then bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
