  • 2 tbsp cornstarch (for custard)
  • 2 cups heavy cream (for ganache)
  • 6 oz dark chocolate, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, cream sugar and butter until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time.
  3. Gradually mix in milk and vanilla until smooth. Pour batter evenly into pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  4. For custard, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, salt, milk, eggs, and vanilla over medium heat until thickened. Chill after adding butter.
  5. Heat heavy cream until simmering; pour over chopped chocolate to create ganache.
  6. Assemble by layering custard between cooled cakes and drizzling ganache on top.
