  • 12 oz large shells or ziti pasta
  • 15 oz whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 24 oz marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Boil salted water in a large pot and cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, half of the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Mix until smooth.
  3. In a baking dish, spread some marinara sauce on the bottom. Layer half of the cooked pasta, then half of the ricotta mixture. Repeat layering with remaining ingredients.
  4. Top with remaining marinara sauce and cover generously with shredded mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle additional Parmesan if desired.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before garnishing with fresh basil.
