Ingredients

Scale
  • 400g dried spaghetti
  • 500g lean ground beef
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 800g canned San Marzano tomatoes
  • 100ml red wine
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 50g grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent (about 5 minutes).
  2. Stir in minced garlic for one additional minute, then add the ground beef. Cook until browned (8-10 minutes), breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Pour in red wine and simmer until reduced by half (3-4 minutes). Add canned tomatoes with their juices.
  4. Mix in oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low heat for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Meanwhile, bring salted water to a boil in another pot and cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente (8-10 minutes).
  6. Drain spaghetti and combine with the bolognese sauce just before serving. Plate generously and top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
