  • 8 slices whole grain or sourdough bread
  • 1 lb thinly sliced deli turkey breast
  • 8 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 1 cup Romaine or Iceberg lettuce
  • 2 medium ripe heirloom tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (or flavored mayo)
  • 4 slices cheese (cheddar or Swiss) – Optional
  • 2 tbsp mustard – Optional

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat for about 7-10 minutes until crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  2. Toast the bread until golden brown.
  3. Spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.
  4. Layer lettuce, turkey, bacon, and tomatoes on four slices of bread. Add cheese if desired.
  5. Spread mustard on the remaining slices and place them on top of the layered sandwiches.
  6. Gently press down to secure layers, then slice each sandwich diagonally and serve.
